Memorial plaque in honor of Solomiya Krushelnitska will be opened in Chile

On April 24, a solemn opening of a memorial plaque dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian opera singer Solomiya Krushelnytska will take place at the Municipal Theater of Santiago in Chile.

This is reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Argentina and Chile:

“We invite everyone to take part in the Opening Ceremony of the historic plaque dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian opera singer Solomiya Krushelnytska, in the building of the Municipal Theater of Santiago with the participation of the talented baritone Vitalii Bely. Solomiya Krushelnitska visited Chile back in 1897. We want the memory of her success on the stages of this country to live, and the Ukrainians would have a corner of their own culture. This is only the beginning, then – more surprises! The event will take place on Wednesday, April 24, as part of the last presentation of the opera “The Power of Fate”.

Recall that during his lifetime, Solomiya Krushelnitska was recognized as an outstanding singer of the world. Among her numerous awards and differences, in particular, the title of “Wagner’s Prima Donna” of the 20th century. Singing with her on the same stage was considered as the honor of Enrico Caruso, Titta Ruffo, Fyodor Chaliapin. Italian composer Giacomo Puccini presented the singer with his portrait with the inscription “beautiful and charming Butterfly.”
