The Ministry of Digital Transformation plans to cover 95% of the territory of Ukraine with the Internet within 2 years. This was told by the profile minister Mykhailo Fedorov in an interview with Segodnya.
“We have redistributed the 900 MHz range, which allowed us to cover thousands of settlements with 4G coverage in 3-4 months. And our goal is to cover the territory of Ukraine by 95% with the Internet in 2 years,” the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation said.
At the same time, Fedorov noted that it is impossible to ensure 100% coverage.
“There will always be a few percent – something somewhere will not work, the boundaries will change within the OTG, for example. That is, there will be some constant factors. 95% is realistic,” Fedorov explained.
He also said that in October alone, 300k+ Ukrainians received access to 4G Internet.
At the same time, according to the ministry’s research, despite the wide access of Ukrainians to high-speed Internet (the Ministry of Digital Transformation says about 85% of the population), more than 10,000 social infrastructure facilities in the country do not have stable Internet connection, which Fedorov promises to fix in the near future.
Fedorov said that the budget for next year has provided funds to cover most of the social infrastructure with the Internet.
