On October 23, one Ukrainian soldier was killed in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area on the east of Ukraine. This is reported by the press center of the JFO HQ on its Facebook page.
Militants have reduced number of attacks, but still use weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements. The illegal armed formations shelled Ukrainian troops positions 9 times, using 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms.
«Ukrainian positions in the areas of settlements of Stanytsia Luhanska, Avdiyivka, Maryinka, Starohnativka, Pavlopil, Vodyane and Hnutove came under enemy fire. In particular, the enemy attacked fortified positions of Ukrainian troops near Avdiyivka with 82-mm mortars, as well as grenade launchers of various systems and small arms. The JFO positions in the area of Pavlopil, as well as Vodyane, were attacked from automatic and hand-held grenade launchers and small arms,» said in a statement.
The commanders of the Ukrainian units conducted an active defense and gave an adequate response to the enemy. According to intelligence data, one militant was killed, four more were injured over the past day.
As The Journalist reported, as a result of the shelling of Mayorsk a local resident was injured.
