Number of educational classes for children with special needs will increase in Kharkiv Oblast

In the next academic year 531 children with special educational needs will study in the schools of the Kharkov region. The Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Education of the Kharkov Regional State Administration Volodymyr Ignatyev told this at a briefing, Ukrinform news agency reported.

«Over the last academic year, 211 inclusive classes were operated in 142 educational institutions of the region, 298 pupils were studying in them: that is a growth by 1.5 times,» – Ignatyev noted.

According to him, the number of children who will be educated in inclusive groups of pre-school educational institutions will also increase.

«Over the past year there were 27 inclusive groups for 44 children in 19 preschool educational institutions in the region. In the new school year, 37 inclusive groups for 68 pre-school children are planned to be created,» – Ignatyev said.

Now in the Oblast functioning a resource center for supporting inclusive education, created on the basis of the Kharkiv Academy of Continuing Education. It is known that teachers who will work in inclusive classes have already passed vocational training in the Academy.
According to Ignatyev, 108 primary school teachers and 112 teacher assistants have already been trained.
