On October 10, National Philharmonic of Ukraine is awaiting guests from Portugal. Three virtuoso guitar players – Ricardo Martins, Claudio Souza, Luis Trindade – will present the evening of Portuguese Fado to Kyiv music lovers. About this reports the press service of the National Philharmonic.
Fadu – national music of Portugal, a kind of symbol of this country. Traditionally performed solo, by a man or a woman, accompanied by two guitars, classical and Portuguese (it has a pear-shaped body and twin strings). They say that the secret of Fado conveys the word saudade, which means longing, sadness, pain, loneliness, but this sadness is pure and light, full of faith and hope. According to one of the versions, Fado appeared among Portuguese sailors who for centuries went to sea, leaving their wives in a painful wait. This feeling that a woman experiences when parting with her beloved, realizing the inevitability of this separation, realizing that a man may never return, but at the same time continuing to believe and hope for a happy return, this is saudade.
