Population in the Kyiv region is increasing, but exclusively due to migration

According to the statistics, the demographic situation of the Kiev region has not a very promising development. Mortality rate is twice bigger than the birth rate. This was reported by the press service of the Main Department of Statistics in Kyiv region.
According to the source, during the first four months of 2018, the population of the region increased by almost 2 thousand people and amounted to 1756000 inhabitants.
At the same time it is noted that the region’s population growth rate was caused by increasing of migration which amounted to 6842 people.

«At the same time, a natural decrease in the population was registered, which amounted to 4901 people», – the message said.

Note that the death rate exceeds the birth rate and is 100 deaths per 51 live births.
Up to date, 62% of the region’s population live in towns and urban-type settlements, and 38% – in rural areas.
As «The Journalist» reported earlier, the population of Ukraine decreased by 166 thousand people.
