Kherson watermelons, which were promised to the citizens of Kyiv, will arrive along the Dnieper River to the capital not earlier than August 10, and will appear in a stores in a couple of days. This is reported by Agrobusiness news portal.
According to the Director of the Southern Export LTD, Alexander Musienko, originally the barge of watermelons was supposed to be arrived in July 25-26. However, due to prolonged rains, the loading date was shifted to August 5-7.
It is noted, that the goods will be transported within five days. Watermelons will be transported in special cardboard boxes, affixeded to the wooden pallets.
In addition, according to suppliers, transportation of watermelons by barges along the river takes longer, but the goods remain unharmed, unlike carriage by road.
It is supposed that four barges with watermelons will be sent from the south of Ukraine to the capital this year.
Recall that last year, massive shipments of watermelons along the Dnieper to the capital broke up due to anomalous heat, which destroyed a significant part of the crop in the fields.
As The Journalist reported earlier, in the Sumy region, a man tried to buy several tons of watermelons via Internet, but after making a prepaid, he received nothing.
