As of May 20, the number of officially registered unemployed in Ukraine totals 501,000. This was reported by the press service of the State Employment Service.
“As of May 20, 2020, the number of unemployed reached 501,000 (or 64% more compared to the same date last year). The growth of unemployed rate registration in all regions, most significantly in the Khmelnytska, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Kyiv, Lviv, Zakarpattia regions (2.1 – 2.3 times) and the city of Kyiv (3.5 times),” the message reads.
According to the employment service, the number of vacancies amounted to 51,000, which is 40% less than previous year, and the average salary in vacancies is UAH 7,000.
During the lockdown, 104,000 people have already been employed, which is 49% less than in the corresponding period of 2019.
