The outstanding Ukrainian composer, poet and singer Volodymyr Ivasiuk could not commit suicide. This was stated by the director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise Oleksandr Ruvin, commenting on the results of the relevant comprehensive examination, conducted by KSRIFE, as The Journalist reports
“The prosecutor’s office of Lviv region addressed us with the relevant resolution on the examination of the death of the famous Ukrainian poet and composer Volodymyr Ivasiuk on May 18, 1979. It is 40 years ago. Ivasiuk was found hanged in Briukhovetsky forest near Lviv. His body was found by a serviceman 80 meters from the road. Since then the investigation and certain research have been conducted which resulted in the conclusions that Volodymyr Ivasiuk committed suicide by hanging. The criminal proceedings in the case were closed 2 months later the same year”, said the KSRIFE.director.
According to Oleksandr Ruvin, now KSRIFE can provide reliable and accurate conclusions on the results of the experiment, which recreated the then events. As the head of the KSRIFE noted, 40 years had passed since the incident, in particular, the tree on which Ivasiuk was found hanged, had undergone definite changes.
“We have long chosen the right place and appropriate conditions to conduct an investigative experiment. We had to establish whether the composer could do it himself? The experiment was divided into three stages. The first stage: to find out whether he could tie a belt of his raincoat and hang himself? The second stage: to establish whether Ivasiuk could do it with the help of other persons? The third stage: to find out how many persons were needed for it? For the experiment we selected the appropriate conditions: the same date of May, in the same Bryukhovetsky forest, on the same tree, the same beech breed, a tree branch of about 4 cm diameter/ In addition, we found another person who by his external characteristics, corresponded to the parameters of Volodymyr Ivasiuk. Besides, it was a well-trained person (physically prepared – ed.)”, said Oleksandr Ruvin.
KSRIFE experts conducted several experiments, during which it was found that Volodymyr Ivasiuk was not able to hang himself.
“Today we are sure that Volodymyr Ivasiuk could not occur in this loop by himself. He could do this with the help of unauthorized persons. If there were no auxiliary improvised means, then it should be at least three people. If there were auxiliary means, for example, a ladder, then there should be two more people. We have established this for sure”, the head of KSRIFE said.
The KSRIFE transfers theresults of this examination to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Lviv region for making appropriate procedural decisions.
