Chairperson of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Albania’s Prime Minister and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Edi Rama, has said that contributing to the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is an utmost priority for the Albanian OSCE chairmanship in 2020, Ukrinform reported.

“Contributing to a peaceful resolution is an utmost priority of the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship in 2020. That is why I decided to start my official visit with Ukraine, within my first month in the role,” Rama said.

According to him, first and foremost it is necessary to ensure a full and sustainable ceasefire, improving the security situation and the daily lives of people living in conflict-affected areas.

Rama positively assessed the actions of the Ukrainian authorities aimed at peaceful settlement of the conflict and assured of his efforts to ensure that both sides adhere to the principles and commitments of the OSCE and fully implement the Minsk agreements.

“The resumption of dialogue and the results of the Normandy summit are steps in the right direction. However, there is much more to be done. It is a long way to lasting peace. My Special Representative in Ukraine and the TCG, Ambassador Heidi Grau, will study the best way for the process to move forward,” he said.

As The Journalist reported, Ukraine, OSCE agreed to strengthen SMM activity in Donbas.
