Polish politician, activist and human rights defender, the first leader of the Solidarity trade union, the president of Poland in 1990-1995, often called as the legend and father of Polish democracy, Lech Wałęsa has published a statement on the Polish Film Academy website, in which he proposed to nominate Oleh Sentsov for the Nobel Peace Prize.
«Faith in democracy, peaceful methods of action, absence of hatred, the struggle in the name of brotherhood between nations and the willingness to sacrifice oneself for the sake of people, who are unfairly offended are the features worthy of the highest recognition by the free world. For this reason, I call on all the people of goodwill for the liberation of Oleh Sentsov and I propose nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize,» – Wałęsa said in his statement.
Let us note that the politician made this statement in the jubilee of the creation of the Polish Workers’ Strike Committee.
