Parking lots in Kyiv downtown to be equipped with EV charge points

The parking spots in the Kyiv downtown belonging to the Kyivtransparkservice will be equipped with electric vehicle charging points. The very first one to be placed on the Bohdan Khmelnitsky St, 6, the Kyiv City State Administration reports.

“We are seeing the growth of number of electric vehicles in Kyiv, but the infrastructure for them is not yet sufficiently developed. The Kyiv city authorities, together with NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine are organizing the first pilot project aimed to install electric charging stations for electric cars on the street and road network of Kyiv. I want to assure you that the city will contribute to the development of ecological transport. We will start installing charging stations in parking lots in the central part of the city, and then across Kyiv,” Valentyn Osipov, Director of the Transport Infrastructure Department, said.

To him, the only operator for parking vehicles in Kyiv “Kyivtransparkservice” and NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” have signed a memorandum on cooperation. The concept for the development of the parking space provides for the gradual arrangement of places for recharging electric vehicles in parking areas, as this will stimulate the popularity of ecological transport.

It is planned to equip several dozen more electric charging stations at the Kyivtransparkservice parking spots by the end of the year.
