Coronavirus vaccination within the framework of the COVAX initiative may start in Ukraine on March 1, said the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, Medical Assistance and Health Insurance Mykhailo Radutskiy, reports Ukrayinska Pravda. The priority groups who will receive the vaccine will be physicians, educators, the military.
“Under the global COVAX initiative, we should receive the vaccine around March 1, 2021,” said Radutsky.
According to the existing agreements, Ukraine will receive eight million doses of the vaccine. This is enough to vaccinate 4 million people. At the same time, Radutsky clarified that in order to interrupt the chain of transmission of coronavirus in Ukraine, it is necessary to vaccinate 17-18 million inhabitants. To purchase a vaccine outside of COVAX, it is necessary that the people’s deputies make amendments to the draft budget. This would make it possible to find funds for its acquisition.
