The first mobile snow melting machine was tested in Kyiv, Ukraine. Those snow melters processed up to 60 tons of snow per hour, the press center of the Kyiv City Council reported.
The report says that two Canadian-made TRECAN 60-PD snow melter units were purchased in Canada in December 2018.
“Kyiv is the first Ukrainian city which purchased such modern imachines. Snow melting machine processed up to 60 tons of snow per hour. After intense snowfall, when the problem of snow removal from the streets and roads becoming particularly acute, such mobile units provide a significant help,” said Oleksandr Gustelev, general director of the municipal corporation Kyivavtodor.
These machines are highly mobile and could be used in the most problematic part of road network areas.
They runs on diesel fuel, which makes it possible to work on highways, as well as in residential areas or in neighborhoods with difficult traffic conditions.
In addition, the use of snow melting units allows to reduce the cost of auxiliary equipment, since an average 69 units are involved in snow removal works.
“When heavy snow, it’s much faster, easier and more economical to use snow melting units,” Mr Gustelev said.
Kyivavtodor noted that during the next heavy snowfall mobile snow melting machines will already work in normal mode.
As The Journalist reported, a walking and cycling tourist route to be developed in the Ukrainian capital.
