President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said during communication with residents of Zdolbuniv in Rivne oblast that, as of today, Ukrainian-language books and brochures in bookstores account for almost 78% of the total, while Russian-speaking only 15%, reports press service of the head of state.
“We have always been told that we are not able to compete with Russian bookstores. Ukrainian bookstores now finally have many publications in the Ukrainian language. Why? Because people began to buy them and in Russian language they have stopped. No one makes them do this,” the message says.
The President stressed that recently a number of activities aimed at the development and production of the Ukrainian-language product have been implemented. In particular, he earned the law on the introduction of language quotas on radio and television.
