On August 28th the Orthodox celebrate Dormition of the Mother of God – one of the twelve great Christian feasts.

Dormition is the last of feast Orthodox church year. On this day, during the services, priests dress in blue robes. Feast services begin with the all-night vigil. In temples on August 27th, on the eve of the Dormition, a shroud with the image of the Virgin is brought to the believers. With her, a procession is held around the church, after which all the worshipers are anointed with oil. The feast is also praised by a special akathist (chanting).

The next day, August 28th, Liturgy is celebrated.

People also call Feast of the Dormition is also called «First Pure». At the First Immaculate, harvest began in the gardens. Only winter varieties of apples and pears are left on the trees.
