President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the inauguration ceremony from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada proclaimed that his first task in the new position would be to end the war in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, 112 Ukraine reports.
The new president said he is ready to lose his ratings, popularity, and even his position for the sake of settling the conflict in the east of Ukraine.
“Our first task is a ceasefire in Donbas,” said Zelensky.
The head of state added that the beginning of a peaceful settlement in Donbas will be the return of all Ukrainian captives.
