Today, on June 28, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the Christianization of Kievan Rus.
“1032 years ago, Equal of the Apostles Prince Vladimir the Great laid the foundation for the unity of our state, for further development and prosperity. It is the affirmation of Christian values - the ideals of goodness, justice and peace – that has become an important indicator on the path of the Ukrainian people to gain independence. And it is these values that temper our people in the struggle for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” the President’s Office informs.
The president stressed that “the adoption of Christianity brought Ukrainians closer to the big family of European nations, laying deep traditions of political and legal culture.”
At the same time, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal believes that the Christinization of Kievan Rus – Ukraine “set the vector for the development of our people for millennia ahead.” The head of the government wished this spiritual power would fill all Ukrainians with faith in a peaceful and invincible Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
