President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko highly appreciated the efforts of Ukrainian Americans in the issue of recognizing Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people. This is reported in the press center of the head of state.
«We must speak the truth. The truth About Holodomor. Because terrible events of 1932-1933 left in Ukrainian souls great wounds. Holodomor became synonymous with an unprecedented human tragedy», Ukrainian leader said.
«I am very grateful to each of you who made great efforts to ensure that 12 states at local level recognize this our tragedy as genocide», president emphasized.
In addition, Poroshenko especially thanked Ukrainian Congress Committee of America for the steps that have been taken in this matter.
Earlier Journalist reported that Canada, Tajikistan joined the action to commemorate the victims of Holodomor and Bulgaria.
