People gathered at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine building to support a bill No.5670-d “On ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian as a state language” that will be considered by people’s deputies on Thursday (April 25), the Language Law public reported on Facebook.

According to the organizers of the action, the goal of the bill is “to protect the right of every Ukrainian to receive information and services in the state language in all public spheres and create an integral Ukrainian cultural space”.

Before the rally started, on the stage set under the walls of the Ukrainian Parliament was held a prayer service, after which the ex-Minister of Education Serhiy Kvit made a speech.

According to the participants of the action, the state language suffered from oppression from the northern neighbor for centuries: it was forbidden to write, read and speak in Ukrainian.

“Now, when the conflict in the eastern Ukraine goes on, the language question, as the sign of self-identity of our people, is extremely important,” said one of the participants in the action.

Several hundred people attended the event – many of them are young. Among those present at the rally many dressed in embroidered shirts and have national symbols.

As The Journalist reported, Ukraine is among the top countries to test 5G network.
