Kremlin prisoner Boris Stomakhin asks for political sanctuary in Ukraine, UNIAN reports.

The Russian publicist noted that he is a former political prisoner who spent 12 years in prison in Russia for upholding his political position.

“I came to Ukraine and tuned to the State Migration Service of Ukraine for political sanctuary here. The question is being considered. I think I can count on it. I suppose they can provide sanctuary and that a positive answer is possible. I really spent 12 years in Russia. I spent two terms: five years, then seven years. I had three political sentences,” Stomakhin said.

However, he is convinced that he would be sent to prison again if he stayed in Russia. In addition, the publicist noted that in 2004 he had already requested political sanctuary in Ukraine, but the request was refused.

“I came to Ukraine and really applied for sanctuary in Vinnytsia, but I was refused there. Moreover, not just my apply, but even the consideration of my application was refused.”

In his opinion, as long as Russia exists, Ukraine will have constant problems. He said that his plans for the future provide for the continuation of the political struggle – next year he will mark 30 years of his political activity.

As The Journalist reported, Russian border guards detained Ukrainian at administrative border with annexed Crimea.
