Ukraine celebrates the 27th anniversary of the country’s independence. A military parade was held in the Kyiv; other solemn events will be held throughout the day in all Ukraine’s settlements.
It should be noted that the President Petro Poroshenko’s decree on the celebration of the 27th anniversary of the country’s independence and the 100th anniversary of the revival of Ukrainian statehood, received during the Ukrainian revolution of 1917-1921.
In addition to the prayer service for peace in Ukraine and for its people that was held in the St. Sophia Cathedral of the National Reserve Sofia Kyivskaya, and to the military parade on Independence Square, the country’s leadership will lay flowers to the monuments to Taras Shevchenko and Mykhailo Hrushevsky, honor the memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes on the Institutskaya st.
In turn, on Maidan Nezalezhnosti square art collectives will perform a thematic concert «Song for Freedom of Ukraine».
