The next tripartite talks between Ukraine, the European Union and Russia on the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine after 2019 are set be held in October, the press service of the EU Delegation to Ukraine reported, citing the Vice President of the European Commission Commissioner for Energy Community Maros Sefcovic.
According to Shefchovich, in mid-September, a high-level meeting of top experts on the gas transit is expected, the work of which will lay the foundations for the next tripartite meeting at the political level.
«All three parties will authorize high-level experts to work in four areas: the gas needs of the European Union; effect of the application of EU law in Ukraine on the future transit contract; certified operator of the gas transmission system; and gas tariffs. They should meet in mid-September. This will lay the foundations for the next tripartite meeting at the political level, which is to be held during October,» – European Commissioner said this, UNIAN news agency reported.
Sefcovic also said that the parties had agreed to separate the discussion of the new transit contract from older issues.
As «The Journalist» reported, Naftogaz stated that Russia will delay trilateral negotiations until the decision on appeal to Stockholm Arbitration.
