Ukrainian Oscar Committee will begin accepting applications for participation in the national selection of the film for the Academy Award Oscar on August 1st. About this informs Ukrainian State Film Agency press service.
From 1st to 15th August will accept applications for the selection of the Ukrainian film, which will qualify for the Oscar.
»During this period the Committee will hold consultations for filmmakers on the submission of films for consideration», report said.
From August 16th to 28th, the Committee will review the applications. And already on August 29th there will be a meeting of the committee and a press conference, during which the film-nominee for the Oscar Award from Ukraine will be announced.
It is noted that the picture-nominee must meet the following requirements (for participation in the nomination Best Foreign Language Film – Ed.): It must be a full-length play, documentary or animated film (at least 40 minutes) filmed outside the United States of America; The dominant language of the tape should not be English; the film should be released in commercial rental from October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018; rental – for at least seven consecutive days; before the initial rental in cinemas it is forbidden to broadcast a film-nominee on television or on the Internet and release it on DVD, but pre-participation in film festivals is allowed.
