The representative of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, has noted that important and urgent changes need to be made to the Basic Law during 2019. He added that the issue of adopting the new Constitution is the matter of discussion so far, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“I believe that the most essential things should be done in the first year. First of all, we have a great support of Ukrainians during this period. Secondly, we have some effective mechanisms, so there is an opportunity to have them approved by the Verkhovna Rada. And, the third thing, we have the opportunity to monitor whether the goals have been achieved,” Stefanchuk said.

The representative of the president noted that above 20 articles of the Constitution do not have precise legal force, and, therefore, there is no legally interpreted correct text of the Constitution.

Stefanchuk also noted that he did not understand why any reform of the Constitution had dealt with the changes of powers of the state bodies, with no reforms regarding guarantees of the rights of a person and citizen.

As The Journalist reported, Ukraine celebrates Day of Constitution.
