Stepanov: Coronavirus vax not mandatory in Ukraine

Coronavirus vaccination is not mandatory in Ukraine. However, vaccinations is the most effective method of combating the disease. This was announced today at a briefing by Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.

“I want to emphasize that coronavirus vaccination is not mandatory in the country. The state will offer the possibility of vaccination. This will be done. And it is for people to decide whether they will be vaccinated or not. But the Ministry of Health will greatly advise to get this vaccination with a safe vaccine,” he said.

According to Stepanov, during 2021 – 2022 it is planned to cover at least 50% of the population of Ukraine with the vaccine.

“Ukraine plans to launch a multi-level vaccination campaign against the coronavirus disease with the aim to vaccinate at least 50% of the population during 2021 – 2022. I want to emphasize that Ukraine has never conducted such a large-scale vaccination campaign,” he said.

He also noted that mass vaccination is the most effective method of combating coronavirus.

“Access of Ukrainians to the coronavirus vaccine is a priority issue. After all, mass vaccination of the population is the most effective method of combating coronavirus infection,” he said.
