The number of patients hospitalized with coronavirus has almost quadrupled in Ukraine since May, the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov informed at a briefing on August 31.
“The number of people hospitalized during the week has increased. Over the past week, this figure was 2,829 people. If we talk about the week before last this figure was 2,699 people. In the period from May 18 – 24 the number of coronavirus hospitalizations was 749. So, the number of people [infected with coronavirus – ed.]hospitalized has increased more than three times, almost 4 times,” the head of the Ministry of Health said.
Stepanov also voiced out statistics on the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in recent weeks.
“The number of confirmed cases in the past week is 14,458 cases. If we speak of dynamics, then, for example, in the period from August 10 -16, this number was 10,863 cases detected per week. For the week before last [August 17-23 – ed.] this figure was 13,937 cases,” he said.
Stepanov said that in total, more than 36,000 beds – commissioned and reserved – are provided for patients with coronavirus.
On the morning of August 31, the number of beds occupied by patients with confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus, as well as by patients with suspicion of coronavirus totals 9,972.
