Research & Branding Group conducted a study in Ukraine and found out that a pension in amount of UAH 11,041 would satisfy all the financial needs of its recipients.
According to the Pension Fund, the average pension in Ukraine is UAH 3,006, which is almost 3.7 times less than the desired amount.
The study shown that 73 percent of recipients of pension in Ukraine consider its level insufficient, while only 8% of recipients are satisfied with it.
“Given the almost four-fold gap between the official and the desired size of the pension, at the present only a small part of Ukrainians in one way or another counts on the fact that they can adequately live on a state pension. Most Ukrainians, on the whole, do not expect that they will survive on just one pension,” the report says.
About 38% of Ukrainians called the continuation of work in retirement the only way to ensure a decent standard of living in retirement. About 11% of respondents rely on help of their children, another 8% – on savings in the funded pension system.
However, only 1% of respondents hope to live with dignity at the expense of the state pension or its increase.
The “Attitude of Ukrainians to retirement” study was carried out between September 7 – 16, 2019 by a personal interview among 2,001 respondents aged 18 years and older.
The survey was conducted among residents of territories controlled by Ukraine. The maximum sampling error does not exceed +/- 2.2%.
