This autumn in Ukraine the theater will come to life in the library

This fall, national company U! ZAHVATI will present the first collaboration of the theater and library in the history of the country – the performance promenade DIALOGY. The event will take place thanks to the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation Agency pr A reports.

Thanks to the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, a theatrical production will take place in two national libraries: «DIALOGY» promenade from U! ZAHVATI team. The project will be implemented simultaneously in two places: in Yaroslav Mudriy National Library of Ukraine in Kyiv and in Odessa National Scientific Library. Premieres will be held on 10 and 30 November. It should be noted that by continuing the exploration of non-theatrical spaces for their theatrical productions as part of «theater outside the theater» positioning, U! Zahvati team decided to breathe new life into the old library.

Thanks to the work of the team, «Dialogue» viewer will have the opportunity to get a new theatrical experience. Being in close proximity with the actors, everyone can become a co-author of the performance, get acquainted with the immersive form, feel the dialogue with the action and with himself. The uniqueness of the project lies in the fact that the premiere of the performance-promenade «Dialogues» is acquiring a national scale: premiere will take place (with a difference of several days) at once in the two oldest libraries – in Kyiv and in Odessa.

On November 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, the Kyiv audience will be in the heart of Yaroslav the Wise National Library of Ukraine.
On November 30 and December 1, 2, Odessa National Scientific Library will open its doors specifically for «Dialogues».

«The library is a very symbolic place. One of the few where you can hear yourself in total silence. The idea, dramaturgy, script are written directly under the library space. After the library closes its doors to visitors, only 20 viewers will enter its premises in order to exchange their phones for headphones and plunge into the plot. Everything that will happen next is just a figment of their imagination», says the director of the show, Polina Baranichenko.

Each visitor, based on the proposed circumstances and the atmosphere of the space, traveling on the floors of the library, will create their own history. 20 participants for 20 stories. Each will have their own personal dialogue with the work, which was written specifically for the library by the famous Ukrainian writer Tamriko Sholi.

«For me personally, our idea is about our endless internal dialogue. About how to pass our life in the stream of others’ words, about the need to pause in order to just shut up. But it is necessary not to understand it, but to feel it. It is for this purpose that we ask to surrender their phones before the presentation. We are trying to create all the conditions for these 50 minutes to pass in the «here and now» state. And those who succeed will come out after her with the maximum amount of insights and, most importantly, the sensations», said playwright Tamriko Scholi.

In the performance-promenade «Dialogues» real monologues of real people will be used, in which the viewer subconsciously and easily learns familiar phrases, familiar life, familiar life, environment, people, themselves. Therefore, no coincidence is not by chance.
The first pre-premiere performance will be held for representatives of the media on 10.11.18 at 18:00 at the address: Mikhaila Hrushevskogo st., 1. National Library of Ukraine named after Yaroslav the Wise.
