Tusk called on Russia to release Sentsov, all illegally detained Ukrainians

The President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, following the results of the Ukraine-EU summit held in Kyiv on July 8, has noted that Russia should release Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov and other Ukrainian political prisoners, the European Truth reports.

Tusk stressed that he had repeatedly mentioned Oleh at summits and added that Sentsov had become the winner of the Sakharov Prize in December 2018, which the European Parliament awards those who dedicated their lives to protecting human rights and freedom of thought.

“Unfortunately, Oleh is still being held in prison, and I renew our call on Russia to release him and all illegally detained Ukrainian political prisoners held in Russian prisons and on the Crimean Peninsula,” Tusk said.

As The Journalist reported, Tusk said that in the Donbass the local people trapped by Russia’s war.
