Canada and Saudi Arabia are currently locked in a conflict over the arrest of human rights activists. In addition to expulsion of the Canadian ambassador, Saudi Arabia decided to abandon the export of wheat from this country. This is reported by The New Yorker news agency.
It is reported that the State Department of Kingdom has instructed grain exporters to refuse from buying wheat and barley from Canada through international tenders.
According to analysts, this situation may help Ukraine to resume grain exports to Saudi Arabia this year.
It is worth recalling that Ukraine is the main exporter of barley to Saudi Arabia, but did not sell wheat there since 2016.
As The Journalist reported earlier, Ukraine is one of the largest beer suppliers to the EU.
