During the two days of Davos Forum, about 20 official meetings took place: Ukrainian side received a firm position of support at each of them. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated this in an interview with the Ukraine TV channel.
The head of state noted that about two of his official meetings took place during his two-day visit to Davos.
In particular, talks were held with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Wang Qishan, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, newly elected Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite.
“We take advantage of the fact that there is a very tight schedule here – negotiations take 15-20 minutes each — no more, but their numbers are quite large. And everywhere we have a firm position on the support of Ukraine. Thanks to our international partners who demonstrate such support and demonstrate the position of protecting Ukrainians,” the head of state stressed.
Poroshenko spoke about some of the details of the meeting with Merkel where was discussed the issue on preventing Russia’s interference in the elections.
“It’s about cyber security. This includes, among other things, data exchange,” said Poroshenko.
At the same time, he stressed that he could not disclose agreements on special services and all mechanisms for ensuring cyber security.
The head of state also recalled that, on the Ukrainian initiative, a NATO cybersecurity trust fund was created, as well as specific bilateral agreements, starting with the United States and the United Kingdom and ending with Germany.
“Today it is very important that both the USA and the EU, and Canada perceive this as a real threat. This is not about helping Ukraine, this is about uniting efforts to protect democracy throughout the world. Because Russia is trying to use democratic tools and mechanisms to undermine democracy from within. Of course, we will protect the state, including from such hybrid threats to Russia,” he stressed.
