Ukraine celebrates Victory Day over Nazism in World War II

Today, May 9, Ukraine celebrates Victory Day over Nazism in World War II. This day is set in accordance with the Law “On the perpetuation of the victory over Nazism in the Second World War of 1939-1945”.

In Ukraine, between 8 and 10 million people died, of which about 5 million were civilians, 2.2 million were taken out to forced labor in Nazi Germany, 10 million lost shelter. More than 700 cities and towns, almost 30 thousand villages were turned into ruins. On the side of the United Nations, they fought in the armies of Great Britain and Canada – 45 thousand people, Poland – 120 thousand, the USSR – about 6 million, the USA – 80 thousand and France – 6 thousand, as well as in Ukraine itself in the ranks of the UPA person.

The official symbol of the celebration of Victory over Nazism in World War II for several years in a row is the red poppy flower.

Earlier, the “Journalist” reported that official Father’s Day would be introduced in Ukraine.
