Ukraine has shortest period of healthy living in Europe

The medical journal Lancet published a study stating that Ukraine has the shortest period of healthy living expectancy in Europe, UNN reports.

Experts analyzed the indicators of fertility, mortality, migration and population in 204 countries, territories and subnational regions during 1950-2019.

The researchers concluded that life expectancy in good health in Ukraine is only 61.7 years.

“As of 2019, healthy life expectancy (healthy and unhealthy) in Ukraine was 73.8 years (78.3 years for women and 69 years for men),” the report reads.

However, Iceland has the longest healthy life expectancy among European countries (71.9 years). The world’s current average life expectancy is about 63.5 years.

Speaking on other countries: for Russia – it is 63.7 years, for Belarus – 65.0, for Poland – 68.0, for the Czech Republic – 68.5, for the UK – 68.9, for Germany – 69.5, for Italy – 71.0, for France – 71.2 years, for Spain – 71.3.
