According to Ukrgasvydobuvannya drilled a superdeep (6,040 m.) well No. 58 at the Komyshnyanske field, in Poltava region.
A significant inflow of hydrocarbons was obtained at a depth of 6,040 m. – more than 170,000 cubic meters of gas per day.
The Komyshnyanske field is geologically complex and is determined by the deep occurrence of productive horizons. Its reserves amount to about 8 billion cubic meters of gas. During the year three deep wells were drilled in this field, the last of which is No. 58.
“Ukraine has significant potential for the production of hydrocarbons at depths of more than 5,000 meters. Therefore, we consider deep horizons as one of the strategic directions for finding new deposits and building up gas reserves. However, drilling wells at great depths is associated with increased risks: geological, technical and economic,” Oleksandr Romaniuk, director of the Naftogaz Exploration and Production division said.
The well was drilled by Ukrgasvydobuvannya drilling contractor, Ukrburgaz, using a new Chinese-made HongHua drilling rig purchased in 2018. A new well was drilled 41 days faster than planned.
The Komyshnyanske field is in an active stage of development. Another new well is being drilled here, and two more planned for the next six months.
