Ukraine ranked 94th of 195 countries in Global Health Security Index, Radio Liberty reported.
Security Index divides countries into three groups: most, more and least prepared for a global pandemic.
Ukraine scored 38 points and enters “more prepared” category.
Ukraine’s worst indicators are antimicrobial resistance, preparedness for emergency situations and the availability of action plans for such cases, the availability of equipment for infection control.
Ukraine’s high indicators are immunization indices (88.6), restrictions on crossing the border due to the threat of the spread of diseases (100, despite Kyiv has not introduced such restrictions over the past year), the ability to conduct medical tests (75), fulfillment of international obligations (96.9).
U.S. ranked first with an index of 83.5. The Equatorial Guinea took the last place (16.2).
After reviewing the results of the rating, its authors suggested that not a single country in the world is fully prepared to handle an epidemic or pandemic.
