Ukraine was listed among the countries with a high rate of effectiveness in combating climate change. This is stated in the report made by the NewClimate Institute, Germanwatch and the Climate Action Network.

According to the report, Ukraine scored 60.09 points out of 100.

“Ukraine ranks 17th in this year’s CCPI. The political and economic crisis of previous years continues to affect GHG Emissions and energy use indicators, leading to a high rating in these two categories. Experts stress that, rather than being a result of effective climate policy, reductions in per capita GHG emissions and energy use  in the period 2012-2017 are due to the disruption caused by the ongoing conflict in Donbas region of the coal sector and energy-intensive industries,” the document says.

The creation of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection was positively evaluated, since, according to ecologists, such changes have the potential to improve the country’s climate policy.

It is known that there are no leaders in the ranking, the first three places on the list are empty, as none of the countries has shown enough results for preventing climate change.
