It became possible to ‘defend’ UAH 500 million for the cinema and UAH 400 million for the Ukrainian Cultural Fund in the state budget, according to the head of Parliamentary Commission on Humanitarian and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.
“Yesterday I was present at a meeting of deputies in the budget committee regarding sequestration of the budget, including the Ministry of Culture. Thanks to the fact that together with representatives of creative and cultural industries we were able to made this situation public, it became possible to save salaries for theater workers, defend UAH 500 million for cinema and to return more than UAH 400 million for projects of Ukrainian Cultural Fund. Let me remind you that previously these amounts were completely cut. There are other reassuring changes, including the UA:PBC,” Oleksandr Tkachenko said.
To him, the draft budget also provided for a new budget item – another UAH 100 million for the construction of a new museum.
