The press secretary of Zelensky’s president, Yuliia Mendel, has said that Ukraine is ready to release RIA Novosti Ukraine chief Kirill Vyshinsky if Russia simultaneously frees film director Oleg Sentsov, illegally convicted in Russia. She wrote about this on her Facebook page.
Mendel said that the President learned with great interest about the proposal of the Russian side, as a step of goodwill on the part of Ukraine, to release Kirill Vyshinsky. However, she added that for “mutual confidence in goodwill” the Presidential Office offered Russia to release Vyshinsky and Sentsov simultaneously.
“The Presidential Office has learned with great interest about the offer of the Russian Federation regarding Kirill Vyshinsky’s release as the first step of goodwill on the part of Ukraine. We fully support the policy of steps of goodwill and propose that Russia also make a step forward and release Oleh Sentsov. And for mutual confidence in common goodwill, we propose to do this simultaneously,” Yuliia Mendel wrote.
