As of November 1, 2020, gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities reached 28.3 billion m3, 30% more than a year ago on the same day, the state-owned company PJSC Ukrtransgaz reports.

According to data, this is a record volume over the past 10 years. Of these, Ukrainian companies own 18.3 billion cubic meters.

“This is completely enough for Ukraine to pass the heating season without interruption,” Ukrtransgaz stressed.

Over the past 5 years, Ukrainian companies have withdrawn from underground storage facilities from 7.6 to 12.5 billion cubic meters per year.

At the same time, the volume of gas pumped into underground storage facilities over 10 months of this year decreased by 5% compared to the same period in 2019, to 16.8 billion cubic meters. Of these, Ukrainian companies accounted for 8.3 billion, which is 53% less than last year.

Along with the decrease in gas storage volumes by Ukrainian companies, the storage facilities are actively filled by foreign gas traders. Since the beginning of 2020, they have pumped 8.5 billion cubic meters, which is 4.2 times higher than last year’s figures.
