On April 17, the Ukrainian government backed the presidential decree on the creation of the Kremensky Forest National Natural Park in the Luhansk Oblast. This was reported by the press service of the government.

“This park become a vivid example of the struggle for its existence in the Ukrainian environmental history. After its creation in 2009, as the Seversky-Donetsk National Natural Park, it was eliminated by the Yanukovych regime. The Supreme Administrative Court declared this decree illegal. And for long 8 years, unique natural complexes have been lost their environmental status,” said the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ostap Semerak.

Kremensky Forest is the largest natural area of forests in the east of Ukraine. It is located along the main water artery of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts – the Seversky Donets River. This area has long been recognized as a center for the conservation of northern forest species of plants and animals and is part of the objects of the Emerald Network. Here are preserved objects of historical, archaeological and cultural heritage of Ukraine.
