The state specialized enterprise “Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant” has agreed with Ukrstroymontazh to dismantle the old NPP sarcophagus. Relevant information was published in the ProZorro public procurement system.
Dismantling of unstable Shelter object structures will cost UAH 2.076 billion.
Work must be completed by the end of 2023 – this period is defined as the maximum possible for the operation of stabilized structures of the old sarcophagus, as the press center of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant specified.
The dismantled elements will be remotely processed in the technological building of the New Safe Confinement. To the plan, the elements will be fragmented, deactivated, placed in special transport containers and prepared for transfer to recycling or disposal.
