The oldest i nun n Ukraine Johanna (Mariia Moroz) died in the Zhytomyr oblast.
As on his page on Facebook, wrote the founder of the convent in honor of Athos Icon of the Mother of God in Malinskiy district of Zhytomyr oblast, Archpriest Roman Baranovskiy (Lileya). She was 107.
“Today at age 107 nun Johanna has departed to Eternity. She survived two World Wars, famine and 18 years was in exile for the love of Ukraine,” wrote Baranovskiy.
Nun Johanna, in real life Mariia Dmytryevna Moroz, was born on March 25, 1911 in Chernivtsi oblast. In 2008 in Chernivtsi she was tonsured to monasticism. Subsequently, she moved to the monastery of Athos Icon of the Mother of God in Zhytomyr oblast. At the age of 100, she was tonsured into monasticism, and then into the great schema with the name of Johanna.
