UN checks readiness of Ukrainian troops

Ukraine’s 18th separate helicopter detachment, which performs the tasks of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo, has successfully passed the test of readiness to act in extreme conditions, the Ministry of Defense reported.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the event was held in accordance with the UN Mission plan for the inspection of subordinate military contingents. The team for verification and control of operational readiness, which inspected Ukrainian helicopter pilots, included officers from the national contingents of India, Uruguay and South Africa.

During the briefing, detachment commander Colonel Ivan Sholomiy acquainted the commission’s representatives with the structure and tasks performed by the Ukrainian unit and told about training personnel during night flights, military operations involving Ukrainian pilots, and fire training.

The briefing ended with the announcement of a combat training alert on command. The commission had the opportunity to monitor the movement of personnel and military equipment, the strengthening of the protection and defense of the camp.

UN commission officers noted the high level of training and the complete readiness of the Ukrainian national contingent personnel to perform tasks in any conditions.
