Uranium miners continue protest in Kirovohrad region, Ukraine

Workers of the uranium mines of the Eastern Ore Mining and Processing Plant continue to block four highways for the third day in a row, demanding the repayment of wage arrears and the resumption of the work of enterprises. The chairman of the Independent Union of Miners of Ukraine Mykhailo Volynets reports this on Facebook.

“Workers of uranium mines in Kirovohrad region are physically and psychologically exhausted, but they are ready to continue the protest action. They will block the highways until the central authorities fulfill two demands of the protesters: pay off wage arrears, resume the work of the VostGOK State Enterprise, on which the well-being of 5,000 families of workers and single-industry towns, where the SOE mines are located, depend,” the message reads.

It is known that the employees of the state enterprise “VostGOK” block the traffic in the directions Kropyvnytsky – Kyiv, Kropyvnytsky – Mykolaiv, Kropyvnytsky – Kriviy Rig, Kropyvnytsky – Alexandria. The protest continues near the village of Smolino.
