In 2018, burglars stole nearly 3,000 km of copper cable belong to Ukrtelecom company. At least 1,700 people were detained for committing atrocities, the press service of the company reports.

During 2018, thieves stole almost 3,000 km of Ukrtelecom’s cable, that is, on average, they stole 7.6 km of copper cable every day, or 5.3 m every minute.
During the year, over 20,000 judicial proceedings for unlawful encroachment on the company’s telecommunications equipment were instituted, with 1,700 people detained.
The company’s statistics show that in 2018 thieves were the most active in Kyiv: the number of thefts of copper cable increased by 70% over the year (by almost 90% in nine) there.
In addition, in 2017, 20,885 cases of theft and Ukrtelecom’s cable network damage (and other property of cable communication lines) were recorded.
As The Journalist reported, the Kyiv court returned passport to Prodan and allowed him to remove electronic bracelet.
