In Zaporozhia oblast laboratory center they stated that a resident of Novomoskovsk, who was vacationing in Berdyansk, was sick with cholera. However, experts convince that there is no threat of spreading the disease in the region, writes the publication pro.berdyansk.
It is noted that the patient had a nontoxigenic causative agent of cholera.
«This causative agent of cholera is not contagious, but it can cause an easy form of the disease. Also this case is not capable of creating a «menacing» cholera with spreading. It’s cholera, but not that strong form of the disease, from which millions can die», explained deputy director-head of department for study of biological factors at State Institution Zaporozhia Regional Laboratory Center of Ministry of Health of Ukraine Oleksandr Mashchak.
As The Journalist reported because of suspicion of cholera infection, the passengers were evacuated.
