According to the «Arthouse Traffic» company website, the film «Donbas», directed by Sergei Loznitsa, will be shown within the framework of the «Contemporary World Cinema» section of the International Film Festival in Toronto (TIFF).
The festival will be held between September 6 – 16.
In recent months, the film was watched by international audiences in Karlovy Vary, Munich, Melbourne and Jerusalem. The Ukrainian premiere of the film was held during the Odesa International Film Festival. The experts of Germany, Ukraine, the Netherlands, France and Romania have joined to participate in the creation of the film. It is also known, that the film became one of the winners of the Eighth competitive selection of the State Agency of Ukraine for movie.
The world premiere of the film took place within the framework of the «Special View» program of the Cannes International Film Festival. Drama received the award for best direction of a film.
According to the report, on September 11, Sergey Loznitsa will become one of the speakers of the discussion, which will be dedicated to Oleh Sentsov and will close the series of events of the TIFF Doc section. The director repeatedly called for the release of his colleague. For example, during the presentation of the award in Cannes, the director «declared his solidarity with Oleh Sentsov, with all the directors in different parts of the world who are fighting for freedom, honor and, eventually, for humanity.»
As The Journalist reported earlier, Iryna Gerashchenko criticized the Kremlin’s response about to pardon Sentsov.
