Measles cases increased in Kharkiv oblast (Ukraine) in Jan 2019

According to the Kharkiv Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the incidence of measles in the oblast has increased by 42.5% over the past two weeks of January 2019. This was reported by the press service of Laboratory Center.

“During 2 weeks of January 2019, 7 outbreaks were registered with 38 people get affected: 2 cases were registered in everyday life, 2 cases in educational institutions, 2 in health care facilities and 1 in the workplace. Anti-epidemic measures is being continue,” the message says.

The report notes that in total 97 patients were registered in the oblast during the period from Dec 27, 2018 to Jan 9, 2019.
The laboratory center added that the diagnosis of measles was confirmed in 23.7% cases.

“83 patients were hospitalized. Fatal cases were not registered,” the report says.

As The Journalist reported, five people have died from the flu in Ukraine.
