New pedestrian bridge to be built in Kyiv

Kyiv city authorities will open a new pedestrian bridge from the Arch of Friendship of Peoples to the Volodymyr Hill, by the Day of the city, which is traditionally celebrated at the end of May.

“This year we present the updated Landscape Alley and Artists Alley. And then the big tourist route will go to the new Pedestrian Bridge, which we plan to open on Kyiv city Day,” said Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, being aired by the Pryamiy TV channel.

The head of the Ukrainian capital recalled that the bridge is designed for pedestrians and cyclists and will connect two tourist zones – the Volodymyr Hill and the Arch of Friendship of Peoples.

The bridge will be 210 meters length, 6 meters width with an increase of up to 14 meters in the zones of viewing platforms. The bridge will be made of concrete, iron and glass. According to the construction project, it is planned to equip pedestrian and bicycle paths, modern lighting, and video surveillance on it. In addition, on the bridge will have viewing platforms for better overlooking the Dnieper River and the city.
